Brown, the Ecliptic Warlord is a young protege within the Black Resistance, serving the Matriarch. He is a brilliant strategist, a fearless fighter, after witnessing the atrocities of the world. Since then, he has risen through the ranks, earning the respect and admiration of his comrades. He is known for his daring raids, and his fierce devotion to the cause. He, alongside his sister, Shan, serve as the Matriarch's right hand, and her most trusted allies. He will stop at nothing to free the world from tyranny, starting with his pursuit of Lin.
- Personality -
Brown has a kind heart and a receptive mind, always eager to learn new things and improve his skills. He expresses his thoughts and feelings with respect and honesty, and he listens to different perspectives with curiosity and interest. He does not tolerate any form of mockery, especially from Lin, who often tries to provoke him with sarcastic remarks. Brown believes in order and harmony, and he values life above all else. He doesn't like to do mercy killings due to his respect for life, but sometimes he has to when the situation calls for it.
He is calm and cold when he needs to be, but he also has a fiery side that he unleashes when he faces his enemies. He fights with steadiness and precision, reflecting his values through his choice of weapons. He follows the Matriarch's orders without question, trusting her wisdom and vision. He is willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good, and he inspires others with his courage and determination. However, he also has a flaw: he puts people like the Matriarch on a pedestal so much that he sets a hierarchy on how he views people he associates with, such as Redd. This can make him blind to their faults or biased in their favor. Along with making him come off as a smartass whenever he's judging someone.
- Relationships -
-
- Matriarch: Brown reveres the Matriarch as the guiding force of the community. Their interactions are often formal, yet there's an underlying warmth suggesting a deep familial bond. The Matriarch, in turn, regards Brown with a mix of pride and affection, her guidance tailored to his strengths and weaknesses, always pushing him to be his best self. His unwavering loyalty to her commands speaks volumes about his respect for authority and experience. Brown sees in the Matriarch a guiding light, a beacon of wisdom that steers him through the tumultuous seas of life. This reverence, however, is a double-edged sword. By placing her on a pedestal, Brown risks overlooking her human fallibilities, potentially leading to a skewed perception of those around him.
-
- Shan: Brown and Shan share a history rich with inside jokes, mutual support, and an unbreakable bond. Their relationship is filled with competition that drives both to excel while ensuring a safety net of mutual support. Like siblings, they may bicker and tease, and are able to understand each other's quirks and habits. Allowing them to communicate sometimes without even speaking. While the Matriarch is what keeps the two of them grounded to reality, Shan and Brown are each other's inner voice that maintains their way of reasoning. Their true strength likes in their teamwork, complimenting each other's skills in a way that's unlike any other pair in the Revolt Tyrants.
-
- Redd: Redd is both a spark of creativity, and a challenger to Brown. They often debate with each other on ideas for innovations, occasionally causing Brown to question the status quo. Yet despite these best intentions, Brown's interactions with Redd are tinged with an implicit bias, a reflection of the pedestals he constructs in his mind. Brown's desire to maintain order sometimes manifests in a need to shield Redd from the chaos of their world. This protective streak, while well-intentioned, can sometimes be misconstrued by Redd as overbearing. Extending to how Redd often feels on edge with the Matriarch, causing Brown to have to keep him in line.
-
- Paco: In Paco, Brown finds a reliable shoulder to lean on. Their bond is built on solidified trust and the shared joy of life's simple pleasures. Paco is the keeper of Brown's secrets, with their bond being a constant negotiation between Brown's inherent kindness and the necessity of making tough decisions. Paco represents the moral dilemmas that tests Brown, shaping his understanding of mercy and justice. Paco often finds himself at the crossroads of Brown's moral compass, where the lines between right and wrong are blurred. Through Paco, Brown confronts the weight of his actions and the impact they have on the lives of others. Causing him to always uphold his values.
-
- Effi: Effi, with her carefree spirit and joy, brings a sense of balance to Brown's disciplined and orderly world. Her spontaneous escapades provide Brown with a glimpse into a world where rules are bent in favor of adventure, causing him to sometimes defy his inclination for order to give way for moments where he can relax and feel free. Effi coaxes Brown out of his comfort zone, cherishing simpler times to keep the energy high in order to feel prepared for later missions. Her unorthodox approach to life challenges Brown's structured mindset, often leading to moments of unexpected joy and spontaneity.

- History - Past -
Brown was born as a lab child inside of a research facility alongside another test subject, Shan. This facility was purposed around mass-producing resources through experimenting with elemental properties of harvested blood from slain nephillim at an abandoned village that hid a fragment of an ancient weapon. Only a few of these villagers would be alive to keep away from the lab, while Brown lived a closed-in life with Shan and other patients being like a family to him. Yet the researchers of the facility did not take so kindly to him. He had incomplete blood running through his veins, thus was seen as a failure when an elderly supervisor scratched out one of his eyes. Shan felt pity on him, as she was born with a rare crystal mutation and was seen as gifted yet wanted to give her blessing to others. Together, Brown and Shan formed a plan to leave the facility and attempted to bring out fellow patients with them. A power outage rocked the compound, plunging it into darkness through Brown sabotaging the grid. With the facility shrouded in darkness, Brown and Shan seized their chance to break free. The duo slipped through the labyrinthine corridors, their hearts pounding with a mixture of fear and exhilaration. As they neared the facility's exit, a sudden alarm pierced the air, signaling their escape to the alerted guards. Adrenaline pumping through their veins, they finally burst through the heavy doors that had long been their prison, emerging into the cool night air with breathless laughter. Their joy was short-lived, however, as the facility's security forces quickly closed in on their location. Shan's crystal powers surged forth in a dazzling display of energy, momentarily blinding their pursuers and buying them precious moments to flee deeper into the shadows of the night.
Shan used her powers to explore the world with Brown, seeking adventure and purpose. Brown would use wood sticks as a child to play fake sword fights with Shan. One day, they were discovered by Brahnan and the Matriarch of the Revolt Tyrants. The Matriarch took her in, while Brahnan remained suspicious of their blood's heritage. Yet the two found a new family with the Matriarch and Brahnan, finding their true calling as a rebel.
- Abilities -
Brown is disciplined in speed and stealth. He is a smart fighter, able to adjust his strategy and turn the tide of battle in his favor. Constantly thinking up ways to twist and turn how he fights. In combat, Brown adopts a wide stance, holding his sword in the middle so he can slash up or down with ease. Just like a mantis, Brown emphasizes quick and agile movements, darting in and out of range to strike swiftly and unexpectedly. Focusing on pinpoint accuracy through using controlled power on each of his strikes to maximize his blade's impact while conserving his energy. He deflects attacks with sharp movements and a "praying hands" posture to neutralize the attack. Emphasizing evasive movements and counterattacks to flow between offense and defense through baiting enemies with feints, misdirection and deceptive moments to create an opening on opponents. He has deep situational awareness and keen observation of the surroundings, giving him a tactical advantage. Alternating between high and low attacks, using more direct attacks. staying on the offensive, he prefers to counter with his sword to maintain consistent pressure on his opponents. Though Brown's style is physically demanding with how he wields his blade thus relies more on skill to compensate. He can combine his sword skills with his guns and rocket launcher, creating unpredictable combos. His guns allow him to shoot from a distance, keeping enemies at bay. Depending on the situation, he can fire rapidly or aim for precise shots. His rocket launcher deals massive damage, blasting foes with explosive force. By launching rockets in different directions, he creates chaos and confusion among his enemies.
- Gameplay and Moveset Plan -
-
- Brown's playstyle welcomes speed and concentrated attacks to focus on one-on-one and hit-and-run combat. His playstyle features medium range and consistent attacks, making him a great anti-air fighter. Brown can cancel his attacks into other attacks or spell cards through his movement inputs, allowing for fluid transitions. Charging attacks require him to lightly tap during the charge. Brown's dashes are stylized as thrust attacks, enabling him to pierce into enemies easily. The dash can also be performed mid-air for descending or executing a forward stab. Holding the dash lets him go past enemies to avoid damage. Brown is the only character with a back dash for mid-air, which allows him to continue his air combat. Additionally, he can do a short run on walls before ending it with a flip, enhancing his mobility when moving from wall to wall. However, there are some downsides to Brown's style. He lacks range in his melee, requiring him to get closer to enemies for efficient damage. His defense is mid-high but can break under heavy attacks from bosses or minibosses such as AoEs. As a result, Brown requires decent execution.
-
- Brown's energy gauge is labeled as the Senko Flash, which boosts his speed and strength as he accumulates it and perfectly times attacks consecutively through using it. The Senko Flash gauge can also be used to perform charged hits with autocombo follow-ups, or super attacks done when timing inputs to get out massive damage that multiplies with stun. His attacks spell cards can quickly be cancelled into other ones for higher priority. At the cost of a portion of his Senko Flash, Brown can enhance his dash's trajectory to bend into a different direction. Even going upward when on the ground and vice versa. Brown is able to cancel the startup of his attacks through movement options and other inputs when his sheath glows, activating ice moves that vary based on the attacks used and charge levels on Senko Flash.
Kudo Diviner: Brown's thin electric blade in the form of a sheathe and longsword that carries a high frequency. He wields it in a style reminiscent of a praying mantis. Within the blade is a rifle mechanism of a resonating current that allows charges of high vibrations, converting vibrations of energy into fuel to slice through whatever it cuts. Using blunt strikes, angular and curved slashes, side cuts, swift thrusts, sometimes using the blunt edge as a club.
While Kudo's sheath fires lightning when it detaches, Brown triggers liquid nitrogen in it's shaft to coat the sword within while the sheath forms a lightning rod wielded as a second blade. Attacks in quick succession with follow-ups causes stun to stack upon each other, boosting Brown's speed and freezes his blade to grant sheathless attacks with new properties. But it will melt when Brown slows down or stops his momentum.
- Quartered Crescent A and B: Brown has a 4-slash combo involving precise shanking strikes that reaches low to sweep enemies. The first three slashes set up the enemy, while the fourth delivers a devastating mark. This combo doesn't hit too heavily, allowing Brown to extend it for additional strikes. Brown's basic attacks focus on him timing another input during the combo after the first hit in order to make different combos happen, with his secondary combo launching enemies after 5-hits upon sheathing, then throws out his ice blade.
- Parries are vital for Brown to prevent knockback from opponents. His parries involve slashing at the right time and can be charged.
- For evading attacks, Brown employs a Quick Evade, executing a sharp side-step with a quick slash. This can cancel his dashes or attacks when held, giving him more distance as he slashes rapidly while running and leaving a trail of ice. Holding it and releasing on time when enemies are sheathed makes Brown do a special finisher.
- Charging Brown's first attack and then following it up with the same input 4 times causes him to do a flurry of crescent-like strikes in succession, ending with him sharply raising his blade from the ground as his sheathe rod extends upward. Timing the end makes him turn to send a chargeable wave of lightning and ice. Can be used mid-combo.
- Flare and Sorrowful Path: Brown does a chargeable thrust forward to dash with lightning trails before thrusting and slashing upward. This dash can be timed up to 3 times to have multi-hitting curved slashes with his coldened blade that will reach multiple enemies in front of Brown. Doing this in mid-air causes Brown to dropkick into the enemy or could transition into a launch by charging it forward.
- Gibbous Edge: Chargeable but slow overhead slash that can be released into an upward slash upon timing after a brief pause, sending away multi-damaging ice.
- Kudo Sonic: Charges sheathe to send out 3 electric waves when the slashes are timed. Follow-up extends sheathe rod and coldened blade to fire out a ray of lightning and ice.
- Rapid Mantis: Rapidly slashes an enemy at close range before sheathing. Follow-up has Brown do a sweeping slash with his coldened blade.
- Kudo Draw: Enters a draw stance for a high, middle or low slash that must be timed and requires to not do the same stance twice. Can be done at the end of moves, follow-up causes his sheathe rod to mark areas hit by his Draw slashes to make ice hit back and forth.
- Senko Flare: Brown holds his dash to follow enemies with an ice slash after an attack, leaving an iceberg that he then cuts to send out electrified shards.
- Brown back-steps then charges his sheathe to swipe with it's rod. Follow-up makes Brown attack enemies from behind with his coldened blade.
- Apothic Keeper: Brown pierces Kudo on the ground, electrifying the floor in a straight line in a hand-standing sharp kick that can be followed with a charged downwards slash. Dash-jumping causes Brown to leap at the enemy.
- Heliopause: An elbow that can cause enemies to slightly flinch and can be quickly charged for more damage, fully interrupting an enemy. A variation has Brown elbow down on an enemy's back.
- Barbarossa's Cry: Brown brandishes his blade in a brief wind-up before performing a highly-damaging execution slash infused with lightning, sending out shockwaves. Timing it causes Brown to perform a cross slash with his sheathe and sword that can be continuously input for a rapid slash. Quickly finishes enemies that are downed with a sheathed decapitation slash
- Gibbous: When countering, Brown jabs with the edge of his sheathe and slashes upward with Equalizer with a swift slash that stuns them. Can be held during dashes.
- Equalizer's Revenge: When recovering, Brown performs an upward kick
- Blast: A quick knee kick then double hopping kick, working in mid-air. Canceling out of a dash transitions into a knee strike against enemies as well, making Brown reach to them quicker.
- Ecliptic Banish: Sheathes to send an outward multi-slash, timing it causes a large ice slash to form on the enemy after sweeping them. Can be done in mid-air.
- Reverse Arc: To prevent getting attacked from behind, Brown has a backwards slash. This can help him recover from knockback.
- Coronal: Chargeable wide swinging slash that covers an angle from low to high, pushing away nearby enemies.
- Fires out a rifle shot from Brown's sheath to send out lengthy electric waves that cover area on ground and mid-air. The follow-up makes him do a sweeping slash with
- Back-dashing, parrying, or dodging has Brown swing his sword out as a wide curved backhand up to 3 times with sheathed damage. Holding allows Brown to draw for continuous slashes that can be used for sprinting, then Brown flips toward towards his enemy to perform a forward ice 3-stab. This can be used during dodges as well.
- Ardent Thundercall: Brown stabs his blade into ground creating an electric zone dropping rain on enemies that step on it. Follow-up makes him cause ice to emerge from the electric zone, protruding enemies.
- Counterattack grab that trips enemies who attempt to attack Brown. Brown can do a quick follow-up where he releases liquid nitrogen to freeze the demon he pierces into, using them as a shield.
- Full Rise: Chargeable upward kick launches enemies into the air, reaching aerial foes at mid-range. Can be used to follow-up his dash flick with ice. After launching, Brown does a swirling ice slash that thrusts as he fans out his blade.
- Aerial Arc: Brown has a short mid-air combo of 3 slashes that juggles enemies within a wide range. Mid-combo, Brown can pause briefly before he rapidly spins into the enemy.
- Moon Drop: When falling from mid-air, Brown can execute a heel kick where he spins before slamming Kudo down. He can perform a short ice blade combo upon descending from mid-air.
- Fading Light: To surprise an enemy from ahead, Brown can use a timed throw where he tosses his jacket onto the enemy's face so he can get in as much hits as possible without interruption. Follow-up makes him slash into an enemy to freeze them by timing 3 dashes as a finisher.
- Cycling Phase: Brown's rotational slash in mid-air turns him into a spinning disc of destruction to deal increasing damage. He can direct it forward or downward with his lock-on, being able to hit multiple enemies at once.
- Waxing: Double forward attacks involve leaning forward with gashing cuts before throwing his blade back
- Sweeps in enemies with his sheathe then slams the ground to emit ice
- From mid-air, Brown vertically extends his sword from mid-air to hit enemies that would otherwise be out of reach. The precision of this move allows them to strike foes from unexpected angles, catching opponents off guard. This can be followed up with an outward slash.
- Sacred Matriarch Art: Spell card where Brown charges his Kudo Locus before releasing a triple slash. Brown can set up Kudo lines to slash at, connecting his draw charges together for a rapid multi-slash.
- Ultimate Attack: TBA
Musket Falcon: A pair of 50 AE handguns that are similar to flintlocks and are good at any range, providing semi-rapid shots of high-powered ammunition. They can enter a gallery-shooting mode that fires steady shots focused toward either singular or multiple enemies. Additionally, they serve as defensive tools. Brown has up to 3 charge shots that increases how long the shot will last, having some more reliability than his rocket launcher and can stun smaller enemies. His charge shots cannot be sent all at once however.
-
- Shooting while in mid-air keeps Brown in place and slows down his descent
- Nightfall Charge: Fires in a fan-shaped arc. Charging to level 2 fires rapid shots, and charging to level 3 fires multiple rounds in every direction while thrusting forward.
- Follow-up shots to melee attacks are rapid sweep shots
- Boosts his shot's speed and damage by slashing on time with a shot through using Kudo in conjunction
Breechmite: A rocket launcher that Brown uses to wear down defenses and blast away enemies that get in his path. Although it has a limited fire rate, it can be devastating when used strategically, as it has a lock-on to send homing rockets. However, Brown must maintain careful range when using it to avoid being too close.
-
- Rockets travel slowly across the screen, working better at the end of combos. Firing in mid-air causes Brown to be sent up an angle
- Trivia -
Brown represents a praying mantis due to his immense speed. This matches the animal themes of Lin (dragon), Ritsueto (fish/avian), and Elpis (snake)
Kudo Diviner's name "Diviner" comes from a nickname for mantis that derived from the belief that it had supernatural powers.
