Lin, the Third-party Devil Hunter is a nephillim who serves as one of the newer recruits to the Devil Hunters. He serves as the protagonist of ULTIMATE, coming from a broken family that he’s struggling to piece back together. All while constantly on the run from members of the Revolt Tyrants that are actively pursuing him.
– Personality –
Lin has a fairly double-sided mindset, balancing confidence and self-consciousness. Knowing how to express himself very naturally but is aware of his own limitations. He enjoys finding joy in the little things that lead to bigger results. He has a generous heart, but he can also be serious and assertive when he needs to be. He likes to challenge himself and try new things, but he also values his comfort and stability. He is not afraid to speak his mind, but he also cares about how others perceive him. He values honesty, loyalty, and creativity, and he strives to live up to his own standards.
Lin tends to act on his impulses rather than his logic, unlike Elpis who is more cautious. This makes him unpredictable and hard to deal with. However, he also has a high level of focus that helps him keep his cool and use his flexibility and aesthetic sensitivity to come up with unique solutions. He does what he feels is right, rather than what others think is right. He may want to allow someone to think for him, but his natural obligations prevent him from allowing that as part of his insecurities. These insecurities are deeply connected to the people most important to Lin, such as his family.
Lin wants to protect those he considers his family from any harm. He has a strong bond with his sister Yu Mei, even though they are not very close. He admires his father’s determination, and sees him as the ultimate role model. He also feels a sense of rivalry with Yu Mei, as they both aspire to be like their father. He wonders who has the right to claim that title, and who has the power to make a difference in the legacy of his family. He feels lost and confused when he doesn’t know where his father is during the time of his village being attacked, and he sees his mother’s eyes fade away.
Lin used to be involved in a gang lifestyle through the Patriarch, who was like a second father to him. He would get into fights with clan members as if it were nothing, until the Patriarch was killed by a deadly monk. This drives Lin to pursue revenge, as he feels responsible for his mother’s death and fears losing anyone else close to him. He isolates himself from others, preferring to work alone and avoid attachments. He still cares for his allies, but he kept them at a distance, fearing that he might lose them too. He only showed his softer side when he thought no one was watching, secretly protecting and helping those in need.

– History – Past –
Lin was born as a hybrid destined to be the inheritor of his family’s legacy, after his father inherited the blood of the demon that fought against it’s kind for order. Lin’s father would always attempt to persuade him into this direction through stories of the Legendary Dark Knight and how he encountered him when he was little. His mother was in contact with angelic beings that were part of the Lux Order’s hierarchy as a result of a forbidden pact between humans and angels that led to abominable results. After those results, Lin’s mother was amongst many that were guided to simply slay demonic beings after she conducted the mana of angelic beings from her birth. She wasn’t very well treated by Lin’s father, who was often dismissive if she got in the way of how he was raising their child. Thus she interacted more with his brother, Levita. Who was more vocal about how he felt with the methods of Lin’s father.
Levita had always resented his brother for forcing Lin to follow his footsteps. He believed that Lin deserved a better life, one that was free from the accursed cycle. Levita secretly contacted those from above, and offered them a deal involving their plan of great re-enlightenment. He would help them infiltrate and destroy his brother’s village, in exchange for a safe place for him and Lin’s mother. He hoped that by doing this, he could save Lin from his father’s influence and give him a chance to choose his own destiny. He did not care about the consequences of betraying his own kind, as he saw them as corrupted and doomed by their demonic heritage. He waited for the right moment to strike, when his brother was away on a mission and Lin was left alone in the village. He led a group of blessed agents to the village gate, pretending to be a friendly visitor. He then signaled them to attack, unleashing a massacre on the unsuspecting villagers. Lin was abruptly awoken from his sleep by his mother, who urgently attempted to escort him away from the village for his safety. While a fight breaks out from the back, eventually going to the extreme which causes debris to fall over Lin’s mother. Lin’s confidence sank when he tried to help his mother to get back on her feet. Until he was told by her to simply run away and never look back before she is eventually caught in a devastating blast that pushes Lin away while he runs with tears across his eyes.
After witnessing his father’s village being destroyed, Lin was filled with rage and confusion. He had always been taught to fight against demonic beings, but now it seemed like the angelic beings were just as monstrous. With nowhere else to turn, Lin sought refuge with a group of orphans who had banded together for the sake of survival. They were led by a man known as Patriarch, who had taken in the children and trained them to become skilled thieves and con artists. Eventually giving them access to stolen technology of Bio-Armed Metagallions to make them become Armigers. Lin quickly proved himself to be a valuable member of the group, using his cursed blood to enhance his abilities and his cunning mind to come up with elaborate plans. However, he couldn’t shake off his past and the guilt of not being able to protect his village. This guilt manifested in his constant desire for revenge.
Patriarch saw potential in Lin and decided to train him further in combat, teaching him how to wield weapons and hone his demon powers to their fullest potential. Through his training, Lin discovered that his hybrid abilities. He vowed to use this power to take down the Lux Order and avenge his fallen village. As he grew older, Lin became more and more involved with the criminal underworld, rising through the ranks within Patriarch’s gang. He also began to learn more about the world of demon hunters and their struggle against otherworldly mutants. He saw this as an opportunity to fulfill his desire for revenge and work towards a greater cause.
But as he delved deeper into the world of Devil Hunters, he found himself torn between his loyalty to Patriarch and his newfound loyalty to his fellow hunters. He constantly struggled with his demon blood, which made him powerful but also fueled his anger and thirst for vengeance. It was a constant battle within himself, but Lin knew that he had to find a way to control it if he wanted to succeed in his mission. But yet, during the events of World War X. Lin slipped into a dimensional crack of a leyline and was converged toward a “parallel time” Inhabited with life that had similar genetic structure to him yet completely different anatomy that seemed impure. Living on the anchor point known as Itea Eroemil, where Lin finds the crusader that will rid the world of it’s illness.
– “Neo-Gen” and Abilities –
Lin is able to use the ability of combustion through the usage of the metal Plutonium. Utilizing a molecular aura that’s shifted depending on what weapon he’s using, his Liberty being the most balanced for his aura. The chains on Liberty are sharp enough to shred through almost anything, having an impressive reach. Though Lin once scratched his hand when going overboard, now wearing gloves to prevent his hand from getting any more scars. Lin uses combustion via increasing the kinetics of molecules, utilizing it to fission either spontaneously or inducingly. Rendering his targets more destructible in general through bending or breaking. Induced combustion requires Lin to augment his aura, while spontaneous can simply be used to set off a chain reaction. Lin cannot use his abilities without an external source of metal, risking potentially spreading radiation like a plague. Once scratching his hand when going overboard with Liberty, thus now wears gloves to prevent his hand getting any more scars. When using Ex Arms, Lin links his aura to the weapon biologically so it can affect him molecularly. Giving small mutations through his Ultimatrigger. His angelic weapons focus on his induced combustion and converting organisms with energy through transferrence. Providing energy for weaponry or equipment such as electric items. While his demonic weapons focus on chain reactions and turning energy into constructs through transduction of his mana’s frequency. Lin cannot use his abilities without focusing on objects that contain metal, otherwise it spreads radiation like a plague. And he does not rely exclusively on defense, only preferring to stay in the enemy’s face to search for an opening.
– Gameplay and Moveset Plan –
- Lin’s playstyle is mainly balanced through his moderate speed and strength. His guns provide decent potential to juggle around enemies and have a high firing speed allowing them to shoot consistently. While he can use different finishing moves at the end of a normal combo. His demonic weapons have average speed and a non-extensive moveset but incredible damage to compensate along with being reliable for parrying. While his angelic weapons are quicker and work well with the middle of combos or mid-air attacks. The downside of Lin’s playstyle is that he cannot properly combo or gain energy with one singular weapon, emphasizing on using multiple weapons at once for effectiveness.
- Lin’s running speed can be increased through a singular dash, more notably when he rushes towards enemies.
- Lin can use a hook to pull enemies or objects to himself and a whip to push Lin towards the enemy. Lin’s hook can also be used as a sling to get across areas and serve as his dashes for mid-air. However, his hook must hit a destination for it to work. Lin can cancel his pulls with a jump to get over an enemy
- Lin has side-rolls and an average jump. His jump can be doubled when he jumps once more off an enemy. Though he doesn’t have any attacks when jumping. In order to jump over an enemy to dodge then, Lin must jump in the middle of a hook pull.
- When Lin is on a wall, he can go from wall to wall stabbing Liberty into the wall’s surface or climb up
Liberty: Lin’s primary sword, which has a chainsaw-like edge that can slice through anything with its energy-coated teeth. The sword vibrates at high frequencies, creating powerful impacts and cuts that can split enemies apart. Liberty is a well-rounded weapon that suits Lin’s style, especially when he activates his special move, Hype-fryer. Hype-fryer boosts the elemental damage of Lin’s slashes after a short delay and grants him extra attacks that are essential for Liberty’s combos and multiplies points that Lin gains on the Flow Chain. With angelic weapons, Hype-fryer boosts stun and speed while demonic weapons have boosted knockback and damage. The only drawback is that the chainsaw takes some time to rev up. Lin can use Liberty to slash enemies in the air or on the ground, and perform different moves to launch, smash or pierce them.
- Basic Combos: Has 2 different 4-slash combos. With the last 2 in these combos tending to reach outward. Lin’s second 4-slash combo is heavier. Aerial combos do half damage but cause consistent multi-hits.
- When in mid-air, Lin has 3 revving slash attacks that increase in knockback. Doing them consecutively causes Lin to elevate higher.
- Salamander: Back-dashes before slashing forward with a revolving flip cut
- Upon landing from mid-air, Lin does a flipping slam.
- Slashing during a dash causes Lin to perform a heavy slash where he flips. When slashing after a dash jump, the slash is lighter but is good for interrupting enemies.
- Vacant Daze: To launch enemies up into the air, Lin has a rising slash that can send enemies flying as he flips upward with 3 turning slashes that can be held to extend out heatwaves.
- Hard Load: Slashing downward causes medium knockback that can allow Lin to smash enemies, slashing 3 times before doing a chargeable throw that sends Liberty hurling towards enemies and causing a shockwave. This can be done in mid-air for Lin to fall quickly. Upon descending from mid-air, Lin can perform a quick combo with Hype-fryer.
- If Lin fires a charged shot during the middle of a combo, it causes the projectile to become a saw that does multi-damage on the enemy. If Lin were to attack on time with this projectile, he flips toward the enemy with a heavy slash causing it to explode.
- Air Taunt: Lin backflips, launching an enemy higher into the air
- Hype-fryer: Holds down an attack during a combo to emerge the chainsaw rails on Lin’s sword, draining some energy in it’s delay that will charge back. Allows Lin to hold his attacks during basic combos.
- Hype-fryer Buffed Attacks:
- Bushwhack Ripper: Rushing attack where he does a series of consecutive crossing slashes before a charged slam, altering his dash jump. Lin can hold one of these crossing slashes then release for a bursting cut that varies based on how long Lin held the attack, being usable at the end of another attack.
- Heating Drill: Thrusting stab that can be charged for high damage and reach where Lin swirls Liberty like a drill. This can be used to transition to Lin’s upper slash or done 3 times in a row before being held for a finishing explosive piledriver attack. During a combo, Heating Drill can be used to boost chip damage and bypass defenses.
- Revenge: When recovering from being knocked down, Lin can hold down to recover and prepare to attack with a sawing flip.
- Matrix Evade: When timing his dodges, Lin's speed and damage increases when held. Causing him to engage into a temporary sprint mode.
- Boost: An air dash and double jump for Lin that causes damage to enemies by contact.
- Mid-air chargeable slash that can be done to knock the enemy away as a finisher, stabbing downward.
- Downward rolling slash that causes Lin to saw into the ground, launching a saw-shaped wave to the ground that shakes enemies and can be held for the saw to return to him with a burning shockwave, gaining more energy. This can also be done in mid-air for Lin to fall quickly or go forward.
- Fervent Sawblader: Revolving attack that hits enemies around Lin in a circular motion. This can be held to be used mid-combo as a defensive move sweeping them in while deflecting any close-ranged attacks by rapidly slashing, sending heatwave saws.
- A timed finisher that has a series of AoEs and Hype-fryer moves that vary based on what weapons Lin is using. With angelic weapons, Lin boosts with a sweeping propeller slash that hits with trails of light then creates an electric pillar. With demonic weapons, Lin creates a series of wind explosions that throw out crystals. And with guns, Lin unloads charged shots that stack upon each other.
- Sun-chasing Dragon of Dusk: Lin’s default spell card has him leap into an enemy with a knee kick, flipping them upwards and leads to him doing a rapid Hype-fryer claw slash onto them that sends split heatwaves which can be sent further with each continuous input. This spell card requires to hit an enemy close enough or could work as a counter to restore health and Climax energy. Works during dashes and mid-air combos.
Uriel: A rodded spear of the Electrus element that comes from a defeated Astrable, built with a laser function and an engine-propelling battery mechanism. Uriel gives Lin a bluish glow on his left veins, and allows him to perform swift, long-ranged attacks that are both extensive and aerial-based. Although his damage output is not very high, he can make up for it by chaining combos and stunning his foes with electric shocks. He can also charge up his spear to unleash more powerful surges of energy that cause multi-hits. Uriel is also useful for solving puzzles, as it can manipulate electric currents and devices. However, Uriel’s upgrades are costly and its spell cards are difficult to find.
- Basic Combos: Lin slashes 4 times in a row with Uriel, both on the ground and in the air. If he pauses after the second slash, he can sweep in an enemy then execute a flurry of faster slashes that's continuous before ending with a chargeable launch finisher.
- Embracer: Thrusting stab that can make Lin go forward quickly as his dash slash, striking the enemy with Uriel’s edge like a mallet. This can be charged for Lin to roll into an enemy with continuous stabs.
- Aerial Combo: Lin performs 3 slashes in mid-air that are long-ranged. Pausing before the 3rd slash causes him to electrify with gales suspending the enemy above as he spins higher.
- Hook and Strike: Upper slash launches enemies into the air, and can be held in the middle of a combo to increase the height and damage. Continuous inputs during the launch makes Lin do constant swipes as he rises up.
- Lightning Strike: Creates a stunning shockwave through drilling Uriel into the ground, dealing more damage when when timed right. Penetrating through most enemies that aren’t bulky or resistant to Electrus. This can be used on objects in missions and can also be done in mid-air.
- Circuit: Lin spins on Uriel rapidly. This attack is extendable through continuous inputs, but holding it causes Lin to pierce forward in a grab-styled finisher.
- Ground Hook: Sweeps an enemy to Lin from below while in mid-air.
- Attract: Using the Electrus surge can attract Lin to the enemy quicker, attacking them. Though pulling Lin towards an enemy may be risky when fighting minibosses or bosses.
- ?: Rapidly pierces on enemis from mid-air before releasing an electric burst
- Prayer: Held attack mid-combo where Lin rides on Uriel, leaving trails of lightning as he continuously hits. Releasing the attack causes him to strike with two spears, making Lin's attacks temporarily attract enemies by using up a portion of his Climax Gauge after attacking continuously.
- Spark Twist: Lin flips with a tornado slash after throwing a spear
- Ultimate Combo: Lin continuously spins Uriel, sweeping enemies in and out before performing a finisher with a large torrent storming around the area.
- Forklift Volt: Can extend a combo through using a surge in the finishing attack of a basic combo, causing Lin to impale into an enemy with a 180-ranged shockwave stunning them. The downside of this is that it cannot be cancelled out of, thus any usage at an unwise moment may be consequential.
Feng Teng: Two shuriken blades that control the twin polarities of the light and darkness elements. Said to have come from the torn wings of a punished Astrable. This weapon is a good alternative for melee due to it’s capability to slip in and out of combat easily. Allowing Lin to stun his enemies and slash them from a distance. The light half heals Lin and breaks guards with stun damage but is slower, while the dark half drains health and cancels attacks with it's faster moves. When Lin switches stances, he uses altered moves from either the light or dark half.
Finishers uses a greatsword to summon a clone that uses the same attack but with the other half of Feng Teng. Such as the clone using a light attack based on a dark attack Lin used prior to the finisher.
- Basic Combos and Torrential Slash: Attacks often involve 2 slashes at once, good for pushing enemies back. Feng Teng has a 5-slash combo. Charging at the end of combos causes a rapid double slash that's continuous in damage.
- When attacks are held on ground and mid-air, Lin makes trails of light follow him which bind enemies that are caught in their path with continuous inputs. Holding dark attacks makes attacks do multi-hits.
- Beguilement: To direct towards enemies easier, Feng Teng has a secondary 3-slash combo that alters based on which half is being used. Pausing in the middle of a 3-slash combo causes a multi-grab. This can be done in mid-air.
- Lin rapidly kicks while spinning Feng Teng (Light) or stabs forward and crosses Feng Teng's blades together (Dark), then forms a greatsword that creates an AoE. Can be done in mid-air.
- Dragon Spinner: A weapon throw that can be activated by holding the attack button. Lin throws his blades in a spinning motion, shredding enemies with medium-high damage and restricting their movement. He can quickly explode the thrown blade with a burst of light trails or make it return, leaving trails of darkness as Lin back-dashes to send out crescent projectiles.
- Lin controls the direction of Dragon Spinner, spreading outward.
- Razor Gust Combos and Phosphor: Mid-air combo has 3-slashes, with the last making Lin do a held AoE that creates a burst of light that spins against the enemy with shadow lances, dealing extra damage. Pausing after 2 slashes causes Lin to do revolving curved slashes of darkness that reaches higher and sweeps in enemies, while light sends out projectiles.
- Sky High: Upward attack that’s stylized like a flash kick to launch enemies. Follow-up is either a slamming kick to juggle enemies back down (Light) or a damaging jump (Dark)
- After jumping, Lin can dive downward with Feng Teng to hit an enemy below with a wave of light and darkness
- Places a shuriken on the ground that makes trails of dark continuously attack before Lin flips over with his greatsword to slam down. With light, Lin does a rushing slash as he spins his greatsword.
- A passive ability that allows Lin to jump twice in the air, increasing his mobility and reach.
- Side-steps, hitting enemies all around Lin with both halves of Feng Teng.
- Lin back-dashes before either firing out a beam of light, or sending out crescent flips of darkness that sweeps in enemies.
- Lin throws his shuriken before dashing. This works in any direction and can be chained up to 3 times.
- Beeline: Thrust attack that can be activated by holding the attack button in mid-air. Lin dashes forward with his blades, piercing enemies with high damage in a wide swing. When upgraded, this attack has a longer range.
Shin Guandao: A crescent weapon forged from the teeth of a fire-breathing dragon, once wielded by the legendary Guan Yu. However, it was once used by a demon lord who fought in the Underworld. When Lin swings the Shin Guandao, his right arm becomes covered with a strange flesh that enhances his strength while growing over his veins. The Shin Guandao is not a fast weapon, but it can deal massive damage to enemies with its sharp blade and fiery aura that covers great range. Serving as the parallel to Uriel as it requires to be calculating when using it.
- Blade Combos: Lin performs a 3-slash attack combo. Pausing in the middle of the combo causes the final slash to alternate, making an enemy simply land on the ground unlike the normal 3-slash that knocks them away.
- Aerial Combos: Lin performs 3-slash aerial combo that's less fast than on ground. Pausing after 2 hits extends to 2 more slashes with the final slash causing a burning swipe of air to graze the enemy.
- Retriever: Has a swinging turn where Lin side-steps to left or right. Holding it sweeps enemies.
- Lin extends a scythe off of Shin Guandao to either knock enemies away with crystal waves or sweep them in with dragon claws.
- Mortal Turbulence: Lin jumps across the area, swinging Shin Guandao as he leaves crystal explosions in his past. This reaches up to mid-air.
- Skit: Causes crystalline pillars to erupt from the ground and send enemies away
- Death Swipe: Sends a vertical projectile in the shape of a metallic crescent to push enemies away with medium-heavy knockback. Follow-up slams down with a chargeable finisher.
- Soul Cleaner: Mid-air projectile that sends a crescent shot to the ground. Follow-up slams the ground with flaming trails.
- Hellbreaker: Slams down from mid-air for Lin to launch himself a short distance, axing into the ground with devastating damage
Luan Dou: A set of brass-knuckled gauntlets made from the claws of an accursed wind beast known for it’s brutal ways. Serving as the parallel to Feng Teng with it’s offensive and defensive purposes. Being most affective in close-quarters and doesn’t have any way of being long-ranged unlike other weapons in Lin’s arsenal. Luan Dou is useful when wanting to transition to usage of finishers. Lin specializes in karate moves when using Luan Dou, emphasizing on powerful strikes. Charged attacks are stylized as finishers through grabbing. Grants a damaging triple jump, and lengthy air dashes.
- Marticle Combo A and B: Basic attack that involves 4 punches in a row. This attack can be held to extend the damage and range, making Lin punch faster and harder. Pausing in the middle of a 3-punch combo deals quicker damage, and can be held to extend it's range with Lin elbowing into the enemy then tossing them over to stomp them.
- Tao Bo: Finisher attack that can be activated after Marticle Combo B. Lin turns around and kicks the enemy with a back kick, sending them flying and sharpens his hand with wind, performing decapitating slashes.
- Collective: Weaving stance where Lin uses low kicks and can dodge easier. Dodge-rolls makes Lin perform a sweeping kick that can be charged for grabs when done on time.
- Straight Jaw: Quick jab that can be charged. Lin moves closer to the enemy and punches them in the jaw, stunning them for a moment.
- Aero Blitz: Reverse punch that can be activated by tapping the attack button again after Straight Jaw. Lin punches the enemy with his other fist, knocking them back.
- Softlock Khazri: A shoulder-bashing grab attack that can be held, working for ground and mid-air and will interrupt movement or attacks from enemies.
- Fling Snap: Upward divekick that grabs aerial enemies, before Lin heel drops them into the ground in an explosion of wind. Can be used as a leap attack.
- Front kicks into unsuspecting enemies, creating some distance for Lin
- Rend Destructor: Upper punch that can be held for an enemy-launching uppercut that increases damage. Charging it causes Lin to do multi-uppercuts that sweep enemies with a grab at the end.
- Missile Punter: Rushes in at an enemy from above with a bicycle kick before spinning into them with a hurricane kick when done rapidly. Each input creates a slicing gut.
- Rapidly punches up to the air, grabbing any enemies that are caught.
- A short stance where Lin waits for an attack to hit, before catching them in teleporting punches as they're launched.
- Star Count: Stationary rapid punch that builds up points slowly. Works in mid-air as a rapid 3-punch. Charging it makes Lin elbow into the enemy continuously before blasting them away with a storm orb.
- Flash Breaker: Fires semi-large storm orb projectiles that have an arcing range. Charging them places an orb that can be detonated to swirl in enemies on ground or mid-air.
- Down Ya Go: Mid-air punch that makes Lin pounce an enemy downward
- When descending, Lin has a revolving kick where he spins himself forward before unleashing a devastating slam with his leg
- Groundbreaking Karaburan: Charged downward punch where Lin slams his fist into the ground causing a shockwave to erupt.
- Anemoi Breath: When on the ground, Lin charges a glyph around him that explodes, shattering the earth around him with slicing gusts.
- One-Inch Dragon: Timed charge punch that sends enemies way in a stunning torrent with great knockback, increasing it's effects with how long it's timed.
- Eryx Eye: Block that can be used both upward or downward. When blocking, Lin crosses his arms to form a demonic shield and counters with a grab
- Unearthed Glory: Spell card where Lin locks onto an enemy before charging into them with a grab, leading to him diving into them multiple times with his kicks before charging a haymaker punch that causes a large hurricane
Ming and Qing: Lin’s primary guns in the form of a C96, performing admirably in average rapid fire. These guns are crafted with care, utilizing a metallic dust compound. This metallic dust compound enhances their power, while Lin’s aura allows them to be charged effectively for Dragon Blasts. These Dragon Blasts can be charged up to 3 times.
- Rich Shot: Sends a bouncing bullet that rapidly bounces across multiple enemies with medium damage. Can fire it up to 3 times on ground and mid-air.
- Two Time: When in mid-air, Lin can shoot downward to keep himself up
- Lin can unload all of his charge shot in mid-air to send himself across an area, leaving areas of damage behind him that are temporary
- Archangel and Daemon Befell: On the ground, Lin flips upward and shoots explosive shots to enemies below with a circular shot that's chargeable. When descending from mid-air, Lin performs a defensive flip as he shoots more quickly before landing
- ?: Aims in multiple directions
- Ocelot Twins: Throws Ming and Qing into an enemy, catching them in explosive shots hitting around the area
- Long Mustang: Charging shots longer causes Lin to stock 3 Dragon Blasts that are fired rapidly, exploding on enemies and catching them in a stun.
- Seventh Sense: Lin breakdances while firing shots and teleporting rapidly, kicking around nearby enemies before he goes upward
- Cunning Diversion: Dodges has Lin flip with held shots

– Trivia –
Lin’s appearance in his 2018 design was drastically different compared to his current one. Sporting black sclera and a bowler hat.
Lin was once meant to have a prosthetic arm of Plutonium after his village was attacked.
In a scrapped plot, Lin was going to be pursuing the god Hades who was wrongfully thought to be a culprit to him. This was scrapped due to how it would’ve come off as cliche despite a twist being set up.
Before Lin had his Ultimatrigger designed, he was planned to have extra forms known as Out of Hell and Solar Lin. Out of Hell would’ve been acquired through claiming the “Hell Head” of a Cerberus in the same vein as Alean’s Stardust form. While Solar Lin was meant to be a counter to the Lunar form of an antagonist known as “The Nightmare”
In addition to his forms, he was eventually going to fuse with the old incarnation of Elpis against an antagonist known as “Extinction” Though details about this fusion are unknown besides it being named Omega.
Various conventions surrounding Lin and his equipment have aspects of Chinese history and mythology;
- Aspects of Lin’s personality being balanced is a nod to the Yin and Yang philosophy. Such as being relaxed and active, calm and excited, etc.
- Though not of Chinese origin, Uriel is named after the angel of the same name. This is due to how Uriel is thought to be with the great affinity of electricity and “sparks” the mind with new ideas.
- Shin Guandao was named after the polearm of the same name. It was almost going to be named Dragon’s Tail or Wei Xiu in reference to the Chinese constellation.
- Feng Teng are named after the Chinese gods Fengbo and Tengliu. It was originally meant to bend wind and ice.
- Luan Dou is a way of saying “brawl” It was originally meant to bend earth.
- Ming and Qing respectively mean “bright” and “passion”
- Another non-Chinese name, Fenrir’s Bite, is named after the wolf of Norse mythology who bit off the hand of Tyr.
