Coraline Pose Rework

Coraline

Coraline is a French Ultfinite within the Talon Regime’s Tannin Jaegers team. She serves as the jailer and a secretarial researcher of the Talon Regime. Struggling with attempting to preserve those that lost bodyparts in World War X, she saw Elpis as a good opportunity to help her succeed in properly saving patients due to his technology. However, she hides a layer behind her personality few members dare to see. A layer that may help someone in his quest to find someone after the war.

Personality

On first glance, Coraline may seem as an ordinary nurse especially when compared to Elpis. Especially with how she speaks in a soft dialect, not directly engaging due to how she’s used to her job way before joining the Talon Regime. However, she is actually regarded as one of the most abnormal members of the Tannin Jaegers. Some willing to listen to Larasu’s ladies’ man demeanor rather than take one glance to Coraline. She is actually very giddy and jolly when engaging in her operations, always interested in trying to find unique ways around the problem. This behavior can be kept as long as her patient keeps decent cooperation with her, expecting decent manners from them so the operation can go well. If the operation doesn’t happen to go well, Coraline can be stressed by her own mistakes. Trying her hardest to prevent any irreverent manner snapping out of her. This is rooted in her failures of properly handling patients during World War X, not wanting to directly engage in operations but something that won’t fully risk the lives of her patients. Coraline developed bad habits when hiding away during these times, not forgiving her own mistakes and attempted to imagine herself in the positions of her patients.

This eventually led to her tongue being cut off when snapping, hiding her mouth at all times via her mask. Permanently having a replacement to her tongue that gave her a compulsive appetite as part a side-effect from her neo-gen when suffering exposure from the Negative Zone after attempting exorcism on a patient. As a result of these, she often likes to be the problem-solver between the Talon Regime’s members and shows an adoration toward her patients. Mostly showing it to younger people. She now uses her uniform as a way to deceive enemies into believing she’s a medic, when in-fact, she caught them into her trap.

Relationships –

  • Lightstreak: Coraline sees Lightstreak in a similar position to how she was prior. A person lost in their failure that’s yet to come out of their saddened state. She can’t help but want to help him out of empathy, but can be notably upset at Lightstreak’s sense of pride that he shows to anyone. Feeling indifferent to how he acts toward Daibo. Even if unaware of what caused Lighstreak’s arrogance to grow, Coraline knows deep in herself that he’s secretly yearning for something. She wishes to be something more than what failure defined the two of them as before.
  • Cricket: People often confuse Cricket and Coraline to actually be related due to their similar hair. And the two seem to actually embrace it due to how Cricket doesn’t know where his parents are, thus Coraline freely takes care of him. Often drawing things on small notes for his amusement, serving as one of the things that makes Cricket an easy person to co-operate with Coraline. Using it as a way for his naivety to comprehend things easier. She is somewhat responsible for his attachment to Lucusa that made him see her like a big sister. In a stark contrast to Elpis’ approach with Birdy, Coraline is fine with allowing Cricket to understand various circumstances of the world around him. As a way to not only get him in a sense of involvement with the world but also to allow his development to be well-prepared with a better approach to the world’s conditions than she had.
  • Elpis: When meeting Elpis, Coraline saw hope in her goals through Elpis’ skill. She allows him to be at the epicenter of her operations due to feeling she could be her guide and help her learn different means of recovering patients. However, she worries of potentially failing herself through not being able to fully learn something for her craft off of what Elpis is doing. Always attempting to change up her techniques of her operations as part of the amount of freedom given to her by Lyra. The two find similarities between each other’s relationship quite well, such as how Elpis is with Birdy while Coraline is with Cricket. Though Elpis may indirectly show a disdain to how Coraline teaches Cricket about things in the world, believing it may too be complicated or stressful for him to know. While Coraline may understand where he’s coming from and wouldn’t argue about it, she nevertheless doesn’t want Cricket to be always naive. Coraline ponders on how Elpis handles death, something that the latter feels is complicated to think about especially through past experiments he’s known through his family. To him, even if death is something they’d witness regularly it wouldn’t change the paranoia around how he feels if his, Coraline’s or anyone else’s efforts would be forgotten in their own deaths. Granting an interesting outlook to Coraline.
  • Larasu: TBA
  • Daiyu: TBA
  • Daibo: Those that see how Coraline interacts with Daibo always give her a title along the lines of a daycare parent. She infantilizes him due to him being a teen and is oblivious to his past life, but isn’t aware of how unintentionally condescending she can be to him sometimes. Causing him to occasionally have to spout that he’s not Cricket to try to shoo off Coraline. But to her it doesn’t matter. As a result of this, Daibo hides various injuries from Elpis or Coraline to try to show that he’s trying his best at enduring the worst for his growth. Coraline may sometimes play along his Hakuna Matata gag, even if she doesn’t fully grasp what’s the meaning behind it. When not with Daibo, she reflects on what’s the deal with his bragging especially with how he is with Lightstreak. Especially if she’s looking at someone like Lucusa. Thus it will have a likely effect on how she may act to him in spite of how she desires co-operation.
  • Lucusa: In multiple ways, Coraline treats Lucusa in a different way she would from Daibo. Taking a more moderate approach to her to gain an understanding. She may secretly enjoy some of the drinks that Lucusa has, but often dissects too much at it’s chemicals. Potentially seeing if she could make a painkiller or Midazolam chemical. She actively tries to condition Lucusa out of the bad habits her lifestyle has given her. Albeit in a more sugarcoated way than how someone like Seirya or Elpis would say to her, attempting to communicate to her down to her level. Sometimes purposely poking at how Lucusa spends her free time closed off to analyze how she reacts. Lucusa passively wants to retain her life as is but Coraline doesn’t or rather won’t want to understand why Lucusa limits herself like this. Sometimes Coraline may get into fits with Gerda due to how Coraline wants to take in Lucusa too, but Gerda says she’s already under the care of someone else (Sabano and Elise) But in Lucusa’s eyes she doesn’t believe in the concept of a parent, and can’t help but feel in stagnation anytime the two bring it up.

Abilities / Neo-Gen (Sowing Agent)

Coraline has a Synchro-Gear organism inside of her from an “emerald star of propserity” as a prosthetic coil, giving her erratic movement like that of a lizard and is like an ectoplasmic membrane that unravels and ensnares the body for possessive connection and harvesting materials. It caused her body to have a prehensile cardiovascular system, reinforcing her circulatory system. She utilizes stitching magnets as additional limbs that unravel a bio-chemical form of ectoplasmic aelophis from membranes to attach to subjects via stitching them together with her prosthetic coil. Which has miniature appendages wired to her fingertips, extending it’s reach through wrapping around enemies and launching at targets from afar to ensure quick kills. These appendages are composed of degenerated limbs to conserve aelophis through utilizing chemicals to cause an internal bodily cleansing process of Coraline dissecting away on wasteful materials the coil is linked to. Affecting the nutrition of bodies and plants through constricting them or transfusing the aelophis with something else that could be deadly and induce famine. She can use her stitching magnets to attach her prosthetic coil and release a bio-chemical form of ectoplasmic aelophis that stimulates the cells. She can also use her degenerated limbs to inject different chemicals into the plants, altering their nutrition and taste. Coraline can create hybrid fruits and vegetables, or even new species of plants, by fusing their seeds or stems together with her coil. She can also control the size, shape and color of the plants, making them more appealing or exotic. Coraline enjoys experimenting with her agricultural abilities, but she has to be careful not to overuse them, as they can also have negative effects on the environment and the people who consume her products.

Coraline’s appendages are not just limbs, but tools that are useful in any situation. She can use the chemicals in her body to interact with the Synchro-Gear organism in various ways, such as creating new limbs, merging existing ones to create larger ones, giving temporary life to inanimate objects, or boosting plant growth. But every time she does this, her appendages shrink and harden, becoming more powerful but less flexible. She can also use them as weapons, shooting claws from her Metagallion, or trapping enemies with sticky threads that sense their movements and attacks. She can hide herself by changing her cellular level and blending in with her surroundings, altering her energy signature. She can move through narrow spaces by using her hands and feet interchangeably. She can even extract information or parts from her foes by piercing them with her stitch magnets, such as detaching other Synchro-Gears or harvesting crop materials.

Her Neo-Overdrive is a complex and risky technique that requires careful planning and timing. Coraline transforms her coil into a membranous network of hardened limbs that she spreads around the area, creating a labyrinth of traps. Anyone who touches them will be drained of their aelophis and transferred to Coraline, who will then unleash a barrage of scales off her skin that cause rapid decay on contact. This makes her faster and more agile, but also more vulnerable to damage.

  • Cannot change how she places her stitches
  • Transfusing her bio-chemicals requires pressuring her blood to quickly retract before protruding
  • Transfusions are only temporary
  • Can’t transfuse into things that lack a circulatory system
  • Veins are somewhat fragile
  • Her labyrinth trap is easily breakable through those that either have high development of their senses or those on the higher spectrum of elements
  • Side-effect of her neo-gen makes her crave random bizarre things. Often having abnormal dinners like crepes mixed with swiss mushroom or onion soup presented in bread.
  • Coraline’s aelophis generation is rapid due to the ectoplasmic Synchro-Gear organism inside of her, thus she has to keep track of the bodily patches she keeps on herself as signs of it potentially getting dangerous. Otherwise she risks rotting away physically through the bio-chemicals accessing her blood and treating her like a plant, aging quicker whenever she doesn’t haver patches on.

Trivia

Coraline’s name was originally Caroline

Coraline, similarly to Lightstreak, was based on multiple scrapped characters. The first is Toothpick, whom would’ve been a nurse with a slasher monster motif. And the other is Techaid, whom had little to no information other than being a medical figure using cybernetics.

Coraline’s neo-gen was going to have a ghost motif initially, with her being able to phase through walls, utilize the spiritual energy of others, etc

Coraline’s arm tools are inspired from the magnets used by Ratchet from Transformers Animated

Coraline’s emerald star of propserity represents the goddess Demeter, who is represented by a spotted lizard

Coraline was initially an Ultfinite, until this was swapped with Daiyu

Toothpick’s name was based upon the idea that her tongue would’ve been pierced with multiple toothpicks, this was recycled into Coraline having a cut tongue.

Coraline was originally going to have blue tips on her hair.

In an initial backstory, Coraline would’ve had trauma from starvation to justify her weird eating habits. It was scrapped due to it potentially repeating for an upcoming character themed around Gluttony.

Coraline was almost going to be considered to have psychic-related abilities
